HIPS is an abbreviation of high impact polystyrene, which refers to anti-impact polystyrene, which is an anti-impact polystyrene product made by adding polybutyl rubber granules to polystyrene. The polystyrene products add micron-sized rubber particles and connect the polystyrene and rubber particles together through the grafting. When subjected to shock, the crack extension's tip stress is released by relatively soft rubber particles, so the crack propagation is blocked and the impact resistance is improved.
