Painted New Year Kindness Rocks

After the whirlwind of Christmas, it's such a treat to unwind and dive into a creative project with loved ones. We decided to try our hand at making some New Year-themed painted rocks, leaving them around the neighborhood as little surprises filled with wishes for the coming year. We stumbled upon a treasure trove of dark gray rocks at the beach, and they seemed perfect for creating vibrant fireworks. Using metallic pens from docrafts Papermania, we managed to create designs that truly popped against the smooth, dark surfaces. On each rock, we added a simple New Year greeting alongside some sparkly fireworks. It was fun watching everyone come up with their own personalized messages. My favorite has to be Charlotte's golden rock, inscribed with "You will shine in 2019." Among the collection, we found some uniquely shaped stones, like one resembling an uppercase "A" and a couple of heart-shaped rocks. I gave a helping hand by going over the text to make it more legible. One of these reads, "2019 is for 19 hugs." No matter the size of the rock, they all turned out charming. Smaller ones with just the year written on them look especially cute. If you're stuck with white rocks, don't worry—painting them black beforehand works wonders. Alternatively, using Sharpies to draw silhouettes, like a lucky black v-cat, can give a striking effect. This project turned out to be surprisingly easy and enjoyable for the whole family. Afterward, we took a walk outside to scatter the rocks around, hoping they'd bring some good fortune to those who discovered them.
