Interior design is all about capturing the soul of the client and the essence of the space, isn't it? Today, we're going to introduce you to a company based in Dubai that excels in both aspects in an unmatched manner. Bishop Design, established in 2004, has been on a mission to improve and innovate ever since. Let's take a closer look at some of Bishop Design's remarkable projects!
Millennial Paradise | Shenyang
Rooted deeply in the dynamics of the emerging millennial market and travelers, Bishop Design has set out to create a new kind of hotel concept tailored specifically for this audience. They envision this model expanding into new demographics across China, Asia, the Middle East, and beyond on an international scale. The design inspiration for this hotel draws heavily from Chinese culture and subculture, integrating visual symbols and subtle messaging through various surfaces, colors, and textures in a playful and artistic manner. This creates an immersive art space where people can engage and interact, with technology playing a crucial role in enhancing the interior experience. The blend of these two elements results in a fresh and dynamic visual appeal that caters primarily to millennial travelers while remaining attractive to other market segments as well.
Wavehouse | Dubai
Bishop Design was tasked with designing a dedicated family entertainment destination nestled within the prestigious Atlantis The Palm hotel in Dubai. The vision from the hotel brand and hospitality experts at Solutions Leisure was to create something unprecedented in the region, if not globally. The goal was to develop a series of interconnected spaces that could effortlessly transition into one another, offering endless possibilities for dining and entertainment. From a specialized restaurant and adults-only bar with an outdoor terrace to gaming and redemption areas, soft play zones, augmented reality experiences, and a bowling alley, Wavehouse spanned both the ground and mezzanine levels. Throughout the space, uninterrupted sightlines were maintained, culminating in the integration of an active wave machine—accessible from the Atlantis aqua park but exclusive to Wavehouse. The interior design aimed for a hybrid of industrial chic meets surf shack aesthetics—raw, refined, and synonymous with urban style. A key focus was ensuring inclusivity, making the venue appealing to all age groups.
Studio One | Dubai
Situated in Studio City, Dubai, this G+10 hotel development, as outlined in the client brief, aimed to establish a new language and philosophy for a modern, contemporary 4-star hotel environment. The desired design approach was to be cost-effective, utilizing visually striking, unique, and recycled materials, with strong emphasis on graphic and visual continuity throughout. Thoughtful yet provocative, the design needed to resonate with its target demographic while maintaining the flexibility to be replicated globally. Maximizing space allocation was critical, adhering to DTCM standards and guidelines while embracing a playful, diverse, and versatile application of design styles and finishes. This project showcases innovative solutions that optimize not only space usage but also adopt an intelligent design strategy and innovative problem-solving techniques.
Toro + Ko | Dubai
Spanning two levels, the interior design allows clients to move seamlessly between different spatial interiors, both visually and physically. The surfaces were designed to be raw, urban, and diverse, creating a visually stunning environment. Additionally, there was a need for thought-provoking, bold, graphic, and custom-commissioned artworks to be incorporated, serving as the centerpiece of the space. Floors were planned to be seamless, combining fluid poured concrete surfaces with Terrazzo flooring to create a dynamic visual connection between areas, while ceilings were to be stripped back and exposed, adorned with beautifully crafted decorative and technical lighting to enhance the unique ambiance of the interiors.
Gurdwara Sikh Temple | Dubai
Bishop Design approached the Gurdwara with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring every element was unique in its aesthetic and application. Materials such as handpicked Italian Carrara marble sourced directly from Massa, hand-stitched embossed leather panels, fret-cut illuminated wall surfaces, intricately designed ceilings, bespoke furniture pieces and millworks, Swarovski crystal-studded sheers, and detailed fabrics were carefully selected. The exterior boasts a dynamic "kinetic" window detail and serene decorative pendant lighting suspended overhead, adding an extra layer of elegance.
BOHO Social | Dubai
Seeking a stark contrast to existing offerings in the Middle East, FLIP International presented Bishop Design with the brief to craft a vibrant social hub. The interior was envisioned as eclectic yet modern, echoing the hues of the Bohemian era. At its core, this concept represents freedom, creativity, and the spirit of travel—a new chapter for the Middle East. These elements are beautifully reflected throughout the entire interior design, establishing BOHO Social as a unique and contemporary venue.
