Millennial Paradise | Shenyang

Rooted deeply in the dynamics of the emerging millennial market and travelers alike, Bishop Design has set out to create a new kind of hotel offering tailored to this market, which they envision as a rollout moving forward into new demographics across China, Asia, the Middle East, and beyond. The design concept for this hotel draws inspiration from the surrounding culture and subculture of China. The interior design elevates these sentiments through visual symbols and subliminal messages conveyed via various surfaces, colors, and textures in a playful and art-driven manner. What has emerged is primarily an art space where people can interact, with technology playing an essential role throughout the interior. The two elements have been combined to create a visually dynamic and fresh approach for the millennial traveler market while also being appealing to other segments.

Wavehouse | Dubai

Bishop Design: The Spirit of the Client and the Essence of the Space

Bishop Design was tasked with creating a dedicated family entertainment destination at the heart of Dubaiâ€™s renowned Atlantis The Palm hotel. The vision from the hotel brand and hospitality experts, Solutions Leisure, was for this venue to become a first for the region, if not the world, as it would combine multiple spaces that seamlessly transition into each other, offering endless dining and entertainment options. From a dedicated restaurant and an adult-only bar with an outdoor terrace to gaming redemption areas, soft play zones, an augmented reality experience, and a bowling alley, Wavehouse would span both the ground and mezzanine levels. Uninterrupted sightlines throughout the venue culminate in the inclusion of an active wave machine, accessible from the Atlantis aqua park but dedicated solely to Wavehouse. The interior design aimed for a hybrid of industrial meets surf shackâ€”a stripped-back, refined yet urban style. Serving all generations was a key driving force behind the design philosophy, making the venue a desirable destination for people of all ages.

Studio One | Dubai

Located in Studio City, Dubai, this G+10 hotel development was designed to establish a new language and philosophical approach to a modern, current, 4-star hotel environment. The design direction was meant to be cost-effective while using visually dynamic, unique, and recycled materials, with strong emphasis on graphic and visual connectivity throughout. Thoughtful yet provocative, the design needed to resonate with its demographic while remaining versatile enough for global rollout. Space allocation was crucial to maximize the available area while adhering to DTCM standards, but the project also aimed to be playful, diverse, and innovative in its application, styling, and finishes. This project showcases innovative solutions that not only maximize space usage but also demonstrate intelligent design approaches and creative problem-solving.

Toro + Ko | Dubai

The interior spans two levels and allows clients to seamlessly move both visually and physically between the differing spaces. The surfaces were intended to be raw, urban, and diverse, creating a visually stunning experience. There was also a requirement for the integration of thought-provoking, bold, graphic, and custom artworks, serving as the centerpiece of the space. Floors were designed to be seamless, combining fluid poured concrete and terrazzo surfaces to create a dynamic visual connection between areas. Ceilings were kept simple and exposed, adorned with beautifully crafted decorative and technical lighting that enhances the unique atmosphere of the interior.

Gurdwara Sikh Temple | Dubai

Bishop Design views all the elements within the Gurdwara as unique in both their aesthetic qualities and applications. Materials such as handpicked Italian Carrara marble sourced from Massa, hand-stitched embossed leather panels, fret-cut illuminated walls, a complex ceiling design, bespoke furniture pieces, intricate fabrics, and dynamic "Kinetic" window details, along with decorative pendant lighting, make this space truly special.

BOHO Social | Dubai

Seeking a stark contrast to existing offerings in the Middle East, FLIP International provided Bishop Design with the brief to create a dynamic social destination. The interior was to be eclectic yet modern, echoing hues of the Bohemian era. At its core, this concept represents a free spirit, embodying a traveler and creative. Thus, BOHO Social was born. These traits are beautifully reflected throughout the entire interior design, creating a venue that stands as a new chapter for the Middle East.
