Japanese adhesive market dynamics

From the World Adhesives Conference 2004 in Beijing held on October 20-22, it was learned that with the economic recovery, Japan's adhesive output was first changed from negative growth in 2001 and 2002 to positive growth in 2003. Last year, the output reached 1.04 million tons. Environmentally friendly adhesives have a high proportion.

The main application areas of Japanese adhesives include: wood processing industry, accounting for 37.2%; construction industry, accounting for 17%; packaging industry, accounting for 14.6%. With the continuous improvement of people's awareness of environmental protection and the increasingly stringent environmental protection regulations in various countries, environmental-friendly adhesives have received increasing attention. In order to comply with this trend, Japanese adhesives show the following characteristics: The output of water-based emulsion adhesives, hot-melt adhesives, and water-based pressure-sensitive adhesives continues to grow, while the yield of solvent-based adhesives continues to decrease, and the yield of reactive adhesives increases. It also tends to stagnate. Compared with other countries, Japan's environmentally friendly adhesives (water-based emulsion adhesives, hot-melt adhesives, water-based pressure-sensitive adhesives) account for a large proportion of the total adhesive production.

Japan, in order to control indoor air pollution, has imposed regulations that restrict the use of formaldehyde condensate adhesives, implemented strict VOC air pollution control, and enforced the legal provisions for liability compensation.
