Talking about the Output Efficiency of RIP

SPNT performs a lot of mathematical operations when interpreting PS files, so it needs a lot of space to store intermediate variables, such as shape data, dot matrix information, and so on. If there is enough memory PSPNT will store this data in memory. But if there is not enough memory. This data will be stored in the Windows NT virtual memory, which is stored in the hard disk. It is known that the memory access speed is more than 10 times faster than the hard disk, and these intermediate files are parameters that PSPNT needs to repeatedly call. Once stored in the hard disk, PSPNT can work normally but the overall performance will be greatly affected. The PSPNT stores the results of rasterization (RP) using a mid-lattice, and then transfers the dot-matrix file to its connected peripherals such as imagesetters. The middle dot matrix of PSPNT is a very large intermediate dot matrix file that is stored on the hard disk as a compressed file.

Another issue worth noting is that Huaguang's Type 7 RIP is based on the Apple system. The use of memory by Apple and PC is essentially different. The use and management of the memory by the PC is based on a random allocation. The operating system allocates appropriate memory to each application that is open at the same time. No manual intervention is required. However, the use of memory by the Apple system is based on manual allocation. Every application needs to manually specify the size of the required memory. We can allocate enough memory for each application. If we don't open it at the same time, we can greatly improve the efficiency of each application. Based on this feature, we can specify enough memory for RIP when using the Huaguang 7 RIP for output, thereby improving RIP's working efficiency. I once encountered an ordinary four-color version with Huaguang seven type RIP output, actually took 2 hours, and later found out that the host has 256MB of memory, but the memory allocated to the RIP is only 92MB (this is a type of seven The default setting of RIP) increases the memory allocated to RIP to 200 MB. To explain this version again, it takes only 10 minutes.

In summary, output is a job that requires technology and experience to do this job. You must be familiar with our RIP as well as be familiar with various types of layout software. It is even more important to constantly sum up experience in practical work and improve the technical level in practice.
