4. Relative equilibrium and absolute asymmetry

Symmetry and equilibrium are one of the most important principles of the traditional layout. Symmetry is smooth, serious and dignified.



Equilibrium is a symmetry of equal inequalities that adds certain dynamics to symmetry. Balance and symmetry are very orderly and aesthetically pleasing. Therefore, the modern design breaks through the shackles of absolute balance and absolute symmetry. It not only focuses on the basic laws of symmetry and equilibrium, but also emphasizes relative balance and absolute asymmetry. This has greatly increased the momentum and changes in the layout.

5. Gradient, feathering, and knotting (intensive)

These are also the basic forms of modern planes, and they are also unique visual effects created by computers. Gradient is a basic, gradual, regular, sequential change. Feathering is the blurring of the edge line. Both win with rhythm, rhythm and nature. In the layout, most of the gradients and feathers are used to change the bottom net, to modify the font, etc.


Collective collection is not exactly the content of the plane structure. The “dense ventilation and sparseness” in painting is also a kind of “collection”. The collection in the layout is mainly used as a composition method. It not only has a sense of balance, but also forms a visual center.

6, tension effect

Modern ideas extend the physical concept of force to the visual field. The so-called "tension" refers to the impact of form on people's emotions. Traditional design does not use the concept of "tension", but the trend of "force" in the sense of form exists. If the set edge is narrower than the cut edge, the layout forms centripetal force, and symmetry, balance, etc. are all force senses. Modern design and other types of modern art almost all talk about "tension", not for a new term, but mainly to establish a new sense of order. The aforementioned "relative equilibrium and absolute asymmetry", misinterpretation, variation, gradual change, and aggregation are all new tension effects. As in the graphic design, in recent years, many framing artists began to pay attention to the emotions brought about by points, lines, faces, combinations, crossovers, intricacies, etc., or agitation, or tranquility, joy, or sadness.


The above-mentioned aspects can only be counted as a glimpse of recent innovations in the layout, and it is inevitable that there will be more than one million. The new experience created by the framing artists is actually far more than this. These experiences are not without benefits for observing the trend of future layout art and guiding the future design practice.

Here, the editors and designers of the "Shanghai Commercial Daily", "Youth Vision" and "Potential Magazine" were especially thankful.
