First, the form of thread-bound book

The plywood, boxes, book covers, etc. of the package book are collectively referred to as book letters. Letters are used to wrap one or a whole set of books to protect and decorate books.

First, the form and structure of the letter

The letter-bound books include: splint style, wrapping style, wrapping style, and quadrilateral style, as shown in Figure 7-3.

The plywood letters are made of Phoebe or eucalyptus. The thickness of the plywood is about 3 to 5 mm. The size is the same as the size of the book. The book is sandwiched between two boards and fastened with a ribbon. The title of the book is engraved on the wooden board, painted with color and placed on the bookshelf, which can prevent worms and prevent wear between the book and the book when drawing.

The bag type is generally based on cardboard. According to the grade of the book, the outer fabric is coated with different fabrics. When the package is included, the book is placed in the middle, and the four sides are wrapped up and fastened with a streamer.

Cocoon type includes mirror-type and round-style, which is a commonly used form of book cover. It is composed of 5 pieces of cardboard with different sizes. The outer fabric can be used. Some of the books can be made of silk, satin, silk, and other fabrics. There are also two layers of liners inside to make it beautiful and clean. The names of the various parts of the letter are: bottom plate, front wall plate, liner (tongue), rear wall panel and panel. Front wall plates and panels are also equipped with pin holes and bone pins, respectively. Use a set of books in the middle, and then insert the pin head into the silver hole. Paste the title outside the book cover. With the books wrapped in such a letter, only the upper and lower cuts of the book are exposed and the book can be accessed, as long as the book is checked.

Quartet style letters, also known as packet style letters. The form is similar to the bag-type, the difference is that the size of the front two plates of the letter is the same as the book format, and the fabric of the jacket is also delicate. The cost is high and the processing is inconvenient. Some high-demanding books choose this form of binding.

Second, the letter processing technology

The processing flow of the letter (mirror type) is:

裱 Fabric surface→Materials for cutting books and books→Hybrids and pinholes for production and marketing→Glued lining paper and cloths→Packing and flattening→Natural drying→Adhesive labeling.

With cutting materials. The letter board is gray paperboard of 3~4mm or other cardboard with the same performance. The moisture content does not exceed 12%.

The length of the board is 2±1mm for the length of the book;

Cardboard width has four different sizes;

Liner: booklet width plus a cardboard thickness;

Front wallboard: one letter book plus two cardboard thickness;

After the wallboard: a thick book plus three cardboard thickness;

The width of the panel is the same as the width of the backplane, both the width of the booklet and the width of the two boards.

Fabric cover length: The length of the letter board is two pluses.

Fabric cover width: The sum of the liner, front wall panel, rear wall panel, panel, floor width and four seams, one hemming width and one joining edge width.

Lining length: 6±1mm shorter than cardboard;

Inner liner width: narrower than the cardboard 8 ± 1mm;

Pin hole length: The finished product is 6 ~ 8mm.

The bone sign length is 25 to 40mm, depending on the thickness and format of the book.

Pastry and production of holes and bone sales. After the fabric cover is brushed with adhesive, the cardboard is placed in order, and the assembled envelopes are identical in the envelopes, leaving a 2mm bend in the slope. The edging is strong, not crumpled, and angular.

The single pin hole is made into a conical shape, and the double pin hole is made into a large one and a small one. It is preferable that the pin hole is wide enough to be inserted into the bone pin.

Sticky liner and strips.

Lining paper with 150 ~ 200g/m2 offset paper, sticky and neat, correct, strong, natural drying after the cut, avoid drying, exposure to avoid deformation. The lining material is the same as the cover, and the lining is neat, flat, firm and clean.

Sticky note. Print or write the name of the book with historical paper, Xuanyuan paper or offset paper, and paste it in the upper left corner of the letter. The sticky label is in the correct, flat, clean, and beautiful appearance.

After the processing of books and letters is completed, the inspection of the books will be carried out, and the letters and packages will be put together to complete the entire process of processing the books.
