Green Food Packaging Guidelines

1 Scope

This standard stipulates the principles that green food packaging must follow, including the requirements for green food packaging, packaging material selection, packaging dimensions, packaging inspection, sampling, signs and labels, storage and transportation, and so on.

This standard applies to green foods.

2 Normative references

The clauses in the following documents have been adopted as references to this standard. For dated references, subsequent amendments (not including errata content) or revisions do not apply to this section, however, encourage the parties to reach an agreement in accordance with this section to study whether the latest version of these documents can be used . For undated references, the latest version is applicable to this standard.

3 Terms and Definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this standard.

3.1 Reducing reduce Under the premise of guaranteeing the function of protection, transportation, storage and sales, the first consideration of packaging is to minimize the total amount of materials used.

3.2 Reusing reuse The used packaging material is reused after a certain treatment.

3.3 Recycling Recycle discarded packaging products for recycling, after a certain method of treatment, so that waste into new substances or energy.

3.4 Degradable degradable packaging materials Under certain conditions, chemical structures and physical and mechanical properties can change significantly, resulting in a decrease in molecular weight, physical mechanical properties, or decomposition into carbon dioxide and water.

4 Requirements

4.1 Select appropriate packaging materials, containers, forms and methods according to different green foods to meet the basic requirements for food packaging.

4.2 The volume and quality of packaging should be limited to the lowest level, and packaging should be reduced.

4.3 In the case that the technical condition permit is consistent with the relevant provisions of the goods, reusable packaging should be selected; if it cannot be reused, the packaging material should be recyclable; if it cannot be recycled, the packaging waste should be degradable.

4.4 Paper Packaging Requirements:

- Reusable recycling or degradable;

- The surface is not allowed to be waxed or oiled;

- It is not allowed to apply moisture-proof materials such as plastics;

——Adhesion shall be adopted for carton connections, and nails shall not be nailed together with flat nails;

- The marks on the carton must be made of water-soluble ink, and oil-soluble inks are not allowed.

4.5 Metal packaging should be reusable or recycled, and should not use sealing materials and internal coatings that cause harm to the human body and the environment.

4.6 Glass products should be reused or recycled.

4.7 Plastic Product Requirements:

- The packaging materials used should be reusable, recyclable or degradable.

- In the premise of protecting the contents intact, try to use a single material.

- The polyvinyl chloride products used, the monomer content should meet the requirements of GB9681.

- Use of polystyrene resin or molded articles should meet the requirements of the corresponding national standards.

- It is not allowed to use foamed polystyrene (EPS), polyurethane (PUR) and other products containing chlorofluorocarbons (CFS).

4.8 Ink printed on the outer package or label adhesive should be non-toxic and should not be in direct contact with the food.

4.9 Reusable or recycled packaging, waste disposal and use according to the provisions of GB/T16716 implementation.

5 Packing size

5.1 The size of green food transport packages should meet the requirements of GB/T4892, GB/T13201 and GB/T13757.

5.2 Green food packaging unit shall comply with the provisions of GB/T15233.

5.3 Green food packaging trays shall comply with the provisions of GB/T 16470.

6 Sampling

Sampling is based on the inspection methods specified in the packaging materials and related products. General production in accordance with GB/T2828 implementation; product certification or supervision and spot checks conducted in accordance with GB/T15239; identification testing and arbitration testing conducted in accordance with GB/T15239.

7 Test methods

7.1 Degradable materials, refer to GB/T18006.2 for inspection.

7.2 polyvinyl chloride molded products for food packaging, according to the provisions of GB9681; hygiene performance of the remaining packaging materials in accordance with the appropriate material hygiene standards (see Appendix A for the health indicators of commonly used packaging materials).

8 Signs and Labels

Green food should be printed with a green food logo on the outer package, and there should be explicit instructions for use and instructions for reuse and recycling. The design and marking methods of the signs shall be carried out in accordance with the relevant provisions; in addition to the provisions of GB7718, the labels for green foods shall comply with the provisions of GB/13432 if they are special nutritious foods.

9 Storage and Transportation

Green food packaging and storage environment must be clean and hygienic, and appropriate storage technologies and methods should be selected according to product characteristics, storage principles and requirements; storage methods can not make changes to the green food, the introduction of pollution. Degradable food packaging and non-degradable food packaging should be stored and transported separately. Green food should not be transported together with pesticides, fertilizers and other chemicals.
