Japan will develop new resin manufacturing process

The Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry plans to develop a new resin manufacturing process from next year, directly using powdered polymers to make films or other molding processes to save energy, reduce costs, and protect the environment.
According to Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun, in the existing resin manufacturing process, the polymer powdered chemical products are first processed into pellets and then molded. In this process, the temperature of the chemical raw materials after polymerization needs to be lowered from a high temperature of four to five hundred degrees Celsius, and then the temperature is raised when processing and molding. These two processes consume a lot of energy, but also produce greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide.
The new process planned by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry will directly perform film or other molding processing on the powdered polymer, eliminating the need for a granulation process. The new process not only promises to reduce the energy consumption of resin production by about 30%, but also significantly reduce production costs, and it will also benefit environmental protection.
