Standard for determination method of bursting strength of corrugated board

1. Scope This standard specifies the method for determining the bursting strength of corrugated cardboard by hydraulic increase method.
This standard applies to corrugated cardboard with a bursting resistance of 350 to 5500 kPa.

2. Reference Standard

3. Definition

This standard uses the following definition.
Bursting strength
Under the test conditions, the maximum pressure that the corrugated cardboard can withstand in a unit area is uniformly increased perpendicular to the surface of the sample.

4. Test principle

Place the sample on the adhesive film, clamp it with the sample clamp, and then apply pressure evenly to make the sample and the adhesive film freely protrude until the sample ruptures. The burst strength of the sample is the maximum value of the applied hydraulic pressure.

5. Test equipment

5.1 Sample chuck system

The diameter of the upper chuck (31.5 ± 0.5) mm and the diameter of the lower chuck hole (31.5 ± 0.5) mm. The upper and lower clamping rings should be concentric, and the maximum error should not be greater than 0.25mm. The two clamping rings are parallel and flat to each Other. The contact surface is evenly stressed during measurement.
In order to prevent the sample from sliding during the measurement, the sample chuck should have a clamping force of not less than 690 kPa. However, such pressure generally causes the corrugation of the sample to collapse, which should be noted in the report.

5.2 Film

The film is round and composed of elastic material. The adhesive film is firmly clamped, and its upper surface is about 5.5mm lower than the top surface of the lower clamping ring. The material and structure of the film should adapt the height of the chuck under the film to the elastic resistance, that is: when the protrusion height is 10mm, the resistance range is (170 ~ 220) kPa; when the protrusion is 18mm, the resistance range It is (250 ~ 350) kPa.

6. Taking and handling of samples

6.1 The sample is taken according to the provisions of GB 450.
6.2 The sample shall be subjected to temperature and humidity treatment in accordance with the provisions of GB 10739.

7. Preparation of sample

The sample area must be larger than the chuck of the burst tester, and the sample must not have watermarks, creases or obvious damage. The specimens that have been pressed by the chuck must not be used in the test.

8. Test procedure

Cut samples and test under the atmospheric conditions specified in 6.2.

Open the sample chuck, clamp the sample in the middle of the two sample chucks, then start the analyzer, and gradually increase the pressure at a rate of (170 ± 15) mL / min. When the sample bursts, read the value indicated on the pressure gauge. Then release the chuck and return the reading pointer to the starting position. When the sample has obvious slippage, the data should be discarded.

9. Results

The measurement was carried out on 10 samples each attached to the adhesive film on the front and back sides, and expressed as the arithmetic mean value (kPa) of all the measured values.

10. Test report

The test report includes the following:
a) This national standard number;
b) Sample types and specifications;
c) The standard used for the test;
d) Atmospheric conditions at the test site;
e) The name and model of the tester used, the clamping force used;
f) The average value of the burst resistance of the front and back sides of the cardboard, retaining three significant digits;
g) Test date, location, test personnel, etc.
