When a plastic running track requires renovation, it usually falls into two main scenarios. The first is when the track has reached the end of its service life and can no longer provide safe and effective use for athletes. Continuing to use it could pose risks or even cause harm. The second scenario involves damage caused by improper usage, such as heavy pressure, accidental damage from sharp objects, or burns from cigarette butts.  The process of renovating a plastic running track is quite detailed and requires careful planning and execution. It typically includes several key steps: **First, site preparation** Before any work begins, the area must be thoroughly cleaned. This ensures that the new surface will adhere properly and maintain a uniform thickness. Dust is removed with a broom or hair dryer, raised areas are scraped off, and dirt is washed away with high-pressure water. Nearby plants should be pruned to prevent leaves from falling onto the site, and the area should be closed off to avoid unnecessary foot traffic. **Second, repair work** This step involves inspecting the entire surface for cracks, delamination, or sanding. Damaged areas are repaired using specialized tools, and the base is sealed with a single-component plastic material. The mixing of materials must be done carefully—using proper containers, measuring accurately, and avoiding contamination. The mixing time depends on environmental conditions like temperature and humidity, and all details should be recorded for quality control. **Third, full back coating** After repairs, the entire surface is coated with a new layer. The site is cleaned again, and warning signs are placed to keep unauthorized people away. Protective measures are taken around sports facilities, and raw materials are prepared and mixed according to specifications. The mixture is then sprayed evenly across the surface, ensuring a smooth finish. **Fourth, surface preparation** Before applying the final coat, the layout of the construction area is planned. Water and electricity supplies are arranged, and the workspace is checked for safety. Tools and equipment are tested, and the amount of material needed is calculated based on the size of the area. **Fifth, surface coating** The final layer is applied using specialized sprayers. EPDM powder and fine material are mixed with adhesive and sprayed in controlled layers. Each layer must be at least 1.5mm thick, and the spray is done in both directions to ensure even coverage. Workers must coordinate closely to avoid missed spots or uneven application. **Sixth, marking the track** Once the surface is complete, the track is marked according to IAAF standards. The center line and other markings are carefully measured and painted to ensure clarity and accuracy. **Seventh, final inspection and delivery** Before leaving the site, the finished track is protected, and a manual is provided to the owner. The renovated track is ready for use after 7–10 days of curing. Renovating a plastic track is a complex process, but with proper planning and attention to detail, it can restore the track to its original condition and ensure long-term durability.
