Bayer, Germany will launch new PC brand in the United States

Bayer, a German company, announced at NPE 2003, organized by the American Plastics Industry Association, that it will begin supplying its polycarbonate (PC) Makrolon DPI-1848 in the United States to increase its range of PC products for sale in the region. According to Bayer, DPI-1848 was first introduced in Europe in the second half of 2001 and is characterized by a very high Izod notched impact strength and aging resistance. Vicat softening point is higher than bisphenol A type PC Resin, chemical resistance and hot water resistance are also significantly increased. DPI-1848 is designed for parts that work at high and low temperatures, such as refrigerators, snow rake equipment, military protective masks and goggles, and crawler-type snowmobile windows.
Bayer also introduced three new PC film-grade grades: Makrofol DE 7-2CG, Makrofol DPE 5037 and Makrofol DE VLG 7-1. The application targets are automotive interiors, electronic products, and dial-up purchase displays.
