Comparison of three color management systems

Photoshop color management system

Adobe's Photoshop color management system is Adobe's most famous image processing software. Photoshop has an irreplaceable position in image processing. At the same time, Adobe also strives to develop Photoshop into a complete color management system. The color management features of Photoshop software are controlled by monitor settings (Monitor Setup), printing settings (Printing Inks Setup), and color separation settings.

In order to make the colors seen by the user on the screen as close as possible to the colors of the output sample, the user's system must be calibrated first. The accurate color workflow must start with the display calibration and display settings. "Monitor Setup" includes monitor calibration and monitor setup. In the display, the correct selection is made according to the display type, phosphor, color temperature, etc., so that when the image is converted into the color mode, the correct color conversion can be performed according to the above parameter settings.

The basic purpose of the printing ink setting is that Photoshop provides information on the ink, paper, and machinery used in the final printing. Different papers have different ink absorption and dot expansion, different inks have different color rendering, and different printing methods have different dot expansion rates. So you need to set these parameters in "Printing Inks Setup". After obtaining the basic information from the RGB image data and the monitor data obtained in "Monitor Setup", the color mode conversion can be completed according to the characteristics of the final printing conditions.

The most important item in color separation is the determination of the amount of black plate. In theory, color separation from one RGB value can produce multiple CMYK values, and the final printing effect should be the same. However, due to the amount of ink received by different printing papers and the characteristics of different printing machines, the theory may not be realized, so it is necessary to set the type of color separation and the amount of black plate, and the percentage of total dot printing.

ColorSync color management system

Apple's ColorSync color management system ColorSync is a color management system released by Apple. It uses the ICC standard and uses the Lab color space as the standard reference space. It is a system-level color management software applied under the Mac operating system. It is an open color management system, and users can perform color conversion between different color management systems through the Plug-in module of ColorSync. The ColorSync system includes three components, an ICC standard color description file, color matching method (CMM), and application software interface (API).

The device description file defines the color characteristic information of the device, through which the color range that can be displayed, captured and reproduced by the used device can be obtained. When using ColorSync to create a file, a Profile file will be stored in the file, so that when processing images with ColorSync description files on other devices, ColorSync will compare the characteristics of the device that created the image with the characteristics of the display. Color space matching operation to obtain the best color effect.

The color matching method is the core part of ColorSync, which realizes the conversion of different color spaces. More importantly, ColorSync's color conversion mode uses Linotype Hell's high-quality color matching technology, and users can use better color gamut compression methods to handle colors outside the color gamut.

Since various applications have different expressions of colors, from image scanning to final copy, the same image color will have a different appearance. In order to be able to grasp accurate colors at all times during work, it is necessary to effectively color match these application software. The color matching method can be used to match colors through the ColorSync application software, so as to achieve a consistent purpose.

Kodak's color management system

Kodak's color management system Kodak is a color management system that supports both PC and Mac platforms. Unlike Apple ColorSync and Adobe Photoshop, Kodak's color management system tends to use a modular approach to color management, and provides several local modules. Combining these modules can form a complete color management system . And it has a color management function for the input process of Photo CD images.

Kodak color management system generally includes 4 modules of KPCMS, DCP, PICC and PCS100, which can be used separately or combined into a complete color management system.

The KPCMS module (Kodak Precision Color Management System) provides enough device description files that conform to the ICC standard format. Its input devices include RGB image sources and CMYK image sources, and its output devices include printers and proofers. However, because it cannot edit the device description file itself, it has great limitations.

The DCP module (Device Color Description File Startup Software Package) is a software package specifically designed to provide display and output color correction for PhotoCD images. When opening a PhotoCD image, the user is asked to select two device description files. The input device description file is a Photo CD device Description file, the output device description file can be a display description file, or a color proofer description file. The PICC module (Precision Input Color Characterization) provides a scanner utility standard program to enhance the DCP function.

For advanced image processing and scanning applications, Kodak provides the PCS100 module to accelerate the color conversion process of Photo CD and Prophoto CD images. Using the PCS100 module, you can generate direct links between various devices to skip the intermediate conversion process to the CIE color space, saving time for each conversion and color loss during the conversion process.

Silica gel relative to the ceramic tableware, plastic tableware, hardware, silica gel tableware harmony together with temperature, in which food is cold is hot, can protect the temperature of the food itself, reduce the loss of the change of temperature and a period of time in the silicone bowl or pot food can still maintain the original temperature, when use won't convey the temperature of the corresponding to the user. Moreover, the particularity of the silicone material itself, which is different from other materials, makes the products produced by it have an amazing effect. For example, landing silent food containers, after high temperature cooking, will not produce harmful substances. And tableware but fold, can knead, can turn over, chuai also does not take a space in the pocket, also won't adsorb smeary. Its own desiccant effect, will not because of long-term storage and moldy, qualitative change.
And because of silica gel temperature resistant properties, heat resistance of 240 ℃ high temperature deformation, won't produce hardening phenomenon to 40 ℃, so the product is fully staffed, very practical, we don't have to classification of casual in a microwave, don't worry about the melting and aging and yellowing phenomenon, and it is easy washing, can use less or even do not use detergent containing chemical substances, practicability and convenience are very strong, very suitable for use in their life.
