In order to find niacin substitutes with excellent performance, safety and low toxicity, synthetic nicotinic acid derivative β- (N-isopropylaminonicotinic acid amino) ethanolnicotinate and its maleate with hypolipidemic activity. Methods Using 2 mol of nicotinyl chloride and 1 mol of isopropylaminoethanol as raw materials, synthesis was carried out by the one-step method of simultaneous aminolysis and alcoholysis. The salt formation reaction adopts the method of mixed solvent and step crystallization. Results The quality and yield of the synthetics met the requirements of the literature. Conclusion The one-step synthesis method is easy to operate, and the mild reaction conditions are the ideal synthetic route. A suitable solvent for the salt formation reaction is a mixed solvent composed of acetone and ethanol.
